DUNU x KOTO ITO: A Collaborative Journey

DUNU, a prominent name in the HiFi audio sector, has introduced its new in-ear monitor (IEM), the DUNU x KOTO ITO. This product is the result of a collaboration with Kaji Kaji, also known as Koto, a Japanese headphone reviewer. The project was initiated by HiFiGo in November 2024, combining Koto’s sound preferences with DUNU’s acoustic engineering expertise.

Collaboration and Sound Engineering

The DUNU x KOTO ITO was developed with the aim of creating an IEM that offers both a rich, musical sound and technical accuracy. The project involved five tuning revisions, and feedback from audiophiles at CanJam Singapore 2025 was used to finalize the sound profile. The resulting IEM is designed to provide a full-bodied sound suitable for a range of music genres, including rock, pop, hip-hop, and electronic music.

Detailed Driver Configuration:

The DUNU x KOTO ITO utilizes a four-driver hybrid configuration in each earpiece.

10mm Bio-Diaphragm Dynamic Driver: This driver is allocated to the low-frequency range to produce a deep bass response.
8mm Composite LCP Diaphragm Dynamic Driver: This unit handles the mid-bass and mid-range frequencies.
Two Customized Balanced Armature Drivers: These drivers are tuned to handle the treble and ultra-high frequencies.

Design and Included Accessories:

The physical design of the ITO In-Ear Monitor (IEM) focuses on user comfort. The earpieces, which weigh 6.5 grams each, are made from a skin-friendly resin and are shaped for an ergonomic fit.

The package includes several accessories:

Silicone Ear Tips: Three types of silicone ear tips, including DUNU Candy and DUNU S&S tips, are provided to help users achieve a proper seal.
Cable: The IEM comes with a 4-core silver-plated single-crystal copper cable. This cable uses a Litz braided structure and 22AWG wire cores for its conductors.
Interchangeable Plugs: The cable features DUNU’s Q-Lock quick-switch system, which allows users to swap between a 3.5mm single-ended and a 4.4mm balanced plug, both of which are included.
