Final Announces New DX4000CL Closed-Back Headphones

Final has announced the addition of the DX4000CL to its DX series of closed-back headphones. Positioned between the flagship DX6000CL and the DX3000CL, this new model is designed to offer a balanced and neutral sound profile while addressing common acoustic challenges associated with closed-back designs.

The DX4000CL is scheduled for release through selected retailers on February 26th, 2026, with a retail price of £949 / $999 / €999.

Technical Approach to Closed-Back Design:

The DX4000CL was developed to provide a cleaner frequency response by minimizing the low-frequency resonance often found in closed-back headphones. Final’s engineering team focused on achieving spatial realism and control, aiming for a presentation where the bass remains articulate without masking the mid-range or higher frequencies.

The sound signature is intended to be neutral, focusing on the natural reproduction of vocals and instrumental textures. By managing internal airflow and housing vibrations, the DX4000CL seeks to offer a more expansive soundstage than is typical for this category of headphones.

Internal Engineering and Materials:

The core of the DX4000CL features a 40mm dynamic driver utilizing a Paper-Carbon composite diaphragm. This material choice was selected to ensure precise movement and high resolution across the frequency spectrum.

To support the driver’s performance, the internal acoustic structure has been tuned to suppress unwanted resonances. This design choice aims to maintain clarity during complex musical passages, ensuring that individual elements remain separated and distinct.

As a standard inclusion, the headphones come with a silver-coated cable. This cable is intended to optimize signal transmission and enhance the overall transparency and detail retrieval of the system.

Construction and Specifications:

The DX4000CL features a resin housing and replaceable ear pads made from synthetic leather and memory foam. With an impedance of 37Ω and a sensitivity of 96dB/mW, the headphones are designed to be compatible with a wide range of audio sources.

d for longevity, repairability, and long-term affinity.

Series Context:

The DX4000CL represents a middle ground within the DX lineup, building on the philosophy established by the DX3000CL and the technical foundations of the DX6000CL.

Final, which became an independent entity in 2014, continues to follow a design philosophy centered on long-term utility and repairability. The company utilizes various manufacturing techniques, including 3D printing and specialized driver development, to produce audio equipment intended for long-term use.
