The AMP17 is a solid-state, Class AB amplifier module designed for seamless integration with the iBasso DX300, DX320, and DX340 DAPs. Its front plate, crafted from brushed aluminum, offers both durability and a premium aesthetic. At the core of the module’s innovation is the use of Gallium Nitride (GaN) Field-Effect Transistors (FETs) in conjunction with precision discrete transistors.
GaN transistors represent a significant technological leap in audio amplification. Their electron mobility, which can be as high as 2,000 cm²/V·s, is substantially superior to that of traditional silicon-based transistors. This enhanced mobility results in several key performance benefits.
The AMP17 module is equipped with two 4.4mm balanced output ports. One serves as a dedicated headphone output (PO), while the other functions as a line-out (LO). The line-out feature is particularly useful, as it allows the DAP to be used as a high-quality source for an external amplifier, thereby enhancing the overall versatility of the system.
Additionally, the module supports a super-gain mode when connected to a 12V DC external power supply. When used with the DX340 and a 12V DC power input, the super-gain mode is available, which provides up to 1900mW per channel into a 32Ω load. The GaN-driven ripple suppression system is included to maintain signal purity, which is beneficial for intricate music and when using sensitive IEMs. In fact, there was just a very low amount of noise with very sensitive IEMs, such as the Campfire Audio Fathom, even when the Wi-Fi connection was active.

iBasso DX340 + AMP17 Combination (Lows / Mids / Highs / Soundstage & Imaging):
The AMP17 amplifier module produces a bass response that is tight, controlled, and impactful, with deep extension and no excessive warmth or bloom. The GaN transistors’ speed and precision enable clear bass reproduction, delivering visceral impact for kick drums and articulate basslines. When used with the iBasso IT07, which has a warm and full-bodied sound, the AMP17 enhances the low-end texture, providing a punchy yet controlled bass response. This pairing produces rhythmic, pulsating basslines with clear separation from the midrange, making it suitable for genres like hip-hop and electronic music where a strong, defined bass is essential. In contrast, with the Campfire Audio Fathom, known for its more neutral and detailed sound, the AMP17 delivers deep, authoritative bass without bloating.
