FiiO introduces FA7S: The Brand New 6BA IEM

2021 has been a very productive year for FiiO, especially when it comes to IEM release’s. Whether Hybrid (FH5s) or Single Dynamic Driver (FD3, FD5, FD7) models, FiiO has made many IEM surprises this year and you might guessed that there is only a new full BA member is missing. FiiO didn’t released any BA model since the FA9 flagship In-Ear Monitor. But now the Chinese audiophile giant is coming with the Brand New FA7S, which is an All Balanced Armature Driver IEM that shows a pretty different design compared to the original FA7, which was released back in 2018.

FiiO FA7S continues the same design language that we have seen on their latest FD3, FD5 and FD7/FDX Dynamic Driver Series.

Now, let’s take a closer look;

The FiiO FA7S is equipped with 6 balanced armature drivers per side. Each set of drivers handling a specific frequency range having their own sound chambers, beside the three-way crossover design.

The low frequencies of the FA7S are responsible by Knowles 31618 compound double drivers. At the rear cavity is a perforated design that runs through the whole cavity to ensure airflow dynamics are balanced in the whole chamber. Two Knowles 33518 drivers are in charge of high frequencies with fairly high extension, and there is a highs cutoff design leading to smooth and detailed sound performance. In addition, the customized mids driver setup connects the bass, mids and highs together more smoothly and coherently.

The Brand New FA7S adopts FiiO’s third-generation industrial design with its distinct elements such as Y-shaped elements reminiscent of windmills, the 120° angles, tri-circular faceplate, and bright blue steel mesh.

In addition, to achieve an eye catching visual effect and comfortable fit, the housing of the FA7S is made with a medical-grade 316L stainless steel material, while has been handled through a powder metallurgy process at 1000 degrees Celsius. This high temperature sintering after injection molding to eventually form the whole earphone construction. The faceplate is processed through a five-axis CNC machine, and the rear cavity is polished by hand for a shiny, dazzling, mirror-like finish. In addition, the 316L stainless steel goes through a PVD electroplating coating process for significantly increased rigidity.

As a mid-to-high-end earphone model, the FA7S comes with an exclusive cable made of high-purity monocrystalline silver-plated copper, twist-lock interchangeable 2.5/3.5/4.4mm plugs system and an extensive set of accessories.

The MSRP price for the US Market will be about $339.00 USD.
